Multiple Trucks Damaged In West End Collision
[Updated] Emergency services responded to a collision on Middle Road in Southampton this afternoon [Sept 11] that appeared to involve multiple trucks and resulted in one vehicle smashing into a roadside barrier and the side panel of another truck being peeled back.
Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, police and ambulance personnel attended the scene where it is understood at least one person was transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital. Further details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update 4.50pm: Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service Staff Officer Sergeant Allan Wilkinson said, “Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service received a call via 911 reporting a three vehicle RTC near Five Star Island in Southampton. Upon arrival firefighters noticed there was two trucks and a van involved.
“A male also traveling east had to abandon his cycle after coming to a stop to avoid being hit. The driver of one of the trucks was transported to KEMH with injuries not believed to be life threatening.”

So someone gonna have a lot of ‘splainin’ to do.
Glad there was no lost of life.
Mobile can opener.
Looks like there’s enough Bounty Essentials in that truck to clean up the mess!
Hope they have diapers on board as well !
Government pickup truck
Good God Almighty – Glad everyone is Ok, but I can’t believe those expensive trucks carrying foods have sides made of aluminum tin or foil that folded like an accordion. Never did like those corners with that deep drop to the ocean.
Lets not blame the road or engineering of the truck! If you drive carefully, under the speed limit and stay on your side most can manage not to drive into the ocean! At our speed limit it is possible to stop quickly if say a rubbish collection truck is in the road on a blind corner. Reason we have these MAXIMUM speed limits.
Very recently W&E did a great job of clearing the overgrowth on the water’s side of the road but the westbound lane has cane grass , etc , that is encroaching on the road and traffic going west is tending to go wide in the bend . I hate going through there now and that’s on a bike!
It is my understanding being present at the time, that Police
should FIRST secure the area before taking reports from witnesses.
If an area is not secure potential other accidents/incident could occure within same area.

To much titty milk?
This what likely happens when drivers work over 10 hrs a day…Health & Safety is a joke in Bermuda. TCD needs to enforce the limits on the size of vehicles on the road.
TCD also needs to limit the amount of idiots on the road. It would be easy to fix if it was just overworked truckers.
Overworked drivers delivering essential paper towel…Uh Huh
Slow the f*** down! I travel that stretch of road everyday to Somerset. There should be no carnage like this on our roads. It’s pure and simple speed!!
I wish these roadside barriers would stay in their own lane
Just stupidness straight up speeding. Not paying attention on how much room u have between the line. Its not the trucks that are the problem we have had bigger trucks crossing each other on tight situations and still manage its the f**king driver not paying attention
Certainly they used the Bounty paper towels to clean up all the messy liquid spills, because it is the quicker picker upper.
Also good to know trucks are made of a wooden board and tinfoil, and peel open like sardine cans.
You can see in the picture looking West just how far the near side (left facing west) shrubs ,cane grass Mexican pepper and what have you is into the road …right out into it.Overgrowth is a truckers/bus drivers nightmare.
They force you out and away from the side…and when you know it is brush and you do go through it a chunk of sandstone has rolled down and nestled amoungst it…
This brush is a natural hazard (clear and present danger.)
If you calculate the cost of cutting it back to the court cost, insurance premiums (that we all have to pay), police presences and ambulance ,all that is high cost as well. Court costs…including all the process…at the end of the day count the people involved and calculate their time and what they are paidone or two thousand people were involved ,there is ongoing paperwork until and after court…and have you paid a lawyer out of pocket?
This was a three or four million dollar
accident…when a 10 thousand dollar trim could have prevented that waste !
